Steve Jones is a D.J. and plays guitar
Steve went to the Duran Duran concert at the Staples Center on Saturday, and the bird in the row in front of him was screaming so loud, it made his hair stand on end. Played footie this weekend and scored another goal!
Jonesy now breaks into song occansionally, playing his acoustic guitar and making up lyrics as he goes along. Did I hear something today about "I wake up this morning, had a wank, washed my face.." in today's blues number opening the show? I think so. Jonesy also does a spot-on Jerry Lewis imitation "Hey, lady..." "We had a quite a night out," sez Mr. Shovel. Seems Mr S. and Steve were in attendance at the (2/23) at the S'coolgirls/Vacation show at the King King. The Vacation/S'coolgirls Review(King King Feb.'05) s'coolgirls The Vacation

Adam counseled Jonesy on his problems with birds. We learn that Jonesy has never said "I love you" to a bird!!!(at least not in the serious, romantic sense) and often gets a "blank stare" after listening to a bird talk for more than five minutes...Steve once had some French bulldogs that "chewed the leg" of a friend's dog. He returned the dogs to their breeder shortly after that. His boxer Winston died of a brain tumor a few years ago.
Adam just finished filming "The Longest Yard" with Burt Reynolds, Chris Rock and Nelly. and Music included more Journey, Loverboy & Glass Tiger! Adam choose "Strutter" by Kiss to open the show. He talked about the musical "cliques" in school when he was growing up in New Hampshire.
Subway Sect-Ambition Pil-Religion Sid Vicious-My Way Professionals-Kick Down The Doors (A Mr. Shovel request. Steve doesn't like playing Professionals sons cuz it reminds him of a bad time in his life (i.e. drug use) but he played the song for his "Honey.") Killing Joke-Are You Receiving? Vidal talked about growing up poor during World Wat II He worked as a messenger boy til one day his Mum said "You're gonna be a hairdresser." "I'm gonna be a soccer star." said young Vidal. "No, you're a hairdresser," Mum reinterated. He referred to the '60s as "The Golden Age of Pussy." Talked about meeting a tearful,16 year old Twiggy when she was hanging from the rafters and coaxing her to stop crying cuz David Bailey couldn't photograph her like that..Told a story about cutting Mia Farrow's hair for $5,000 while a bunch of photographers and cameramen recorded her giving on impassioned speech about the plight of the American Indians. Jonesy wants to try Viagra again, and is looking for volunteers to provide inspiration.

Hopefully get the second hour tomorrow morning.
Guests: Slim Jim Phantom & Jayne County. Jayne (formerly Wayne) County was one of the first persons on the New York punk scene in the '70s. She talked about slugging Dick Manitoba, DeeDee Ramone hitting Johnny Thunders with a guitar (or was it the other way around?) and all sorts of stories from the CBGBs/Max's Kansas City/Peppermint Lounge days. Guest: Cherie Currie The ex-Runaways singer was in studio along with her 13 year old son Jake, her hubby Robert Hayes & Brad Eltermann, the photographer. Cherie, Jake & Jonesy performed "American Nights" and "Cherry Bomb" & Cherie performed one of her new songs.Cherie was very forthright in talking about her experiences with the Runaways. She's currently writing her second book about her Runaways experiences. She revealed that Kim Fowley once "pimped her out" to Rick Springfield. Lita "was a bully" and the Runaways reunion slated for a few years ago fell through when Lita reneged.

Jonesy walked to work again today. Mr. S. dropped him off yesterday at the "secret location" where Jonesy parks his car and was very impressed by the distance that Jonesy walks. Quite an accomplishment for a layabout like me", sez Steve," Left to my own devices, I'd stay home with Astroglide, Playstation and cream pies, pay my mortgage and not be bothered. I'm too old now." That's our ole curmudgeon. In fitting fashion, today was another "soft rock" day for Jonesy.

"...Jones's unique DJ-ing style. Actually, "style" might be a little excessive when it comes to describing the casual approach he adopts. "I'm not afraid of dead air," he says, and I believe him. He'll spin half a dozen tunes in a row (all his own choices), start telling you who they were, forget what he played halfway through, ask his producer for help, then give up and launch into an anecdote about his own personal link to one of the bands, which will more often than not involve his stealing their amps or microphones back in the seventies."
