Paul Anka

Luckily i had to be home waiting for SBC to fix my DSL line ( hopefully this recorded at my office ) ( got it )

Great, Great Show.

Jump, Black Hole Sun, Teen Spirit ( "Steam Spirit" ),etc from Pauls new album.
( Paul joking that he wanted to call the album "Smells like Paul Anka" )

Some just with Jonesys some with a bigger band.
Great interview. Talk re recording of Sid vicious on My Way.

Paul calling the chord changes as he was singing and the discussion over how Tom Jones' song ( "Shes a Lady" ) started ..all classics.

.. this is why Indie and Jonesy are here.

Paul Anka

Guest: Paul Anka. Paul has a new CD out "Rock Swings" a collection

LIE8 If they're gonna lie about the bands that are playing, how do
we know the money is going where they say it is?

Medium Fried

Radio free ..

Indie is great but unlistinable throughout much of L.A. so it winds up being in Internet station in my world anyway. Still, if you have not acquainted your self with L.A.’s best new DJ Steve Jones you really should. He airs twice on Indie

The Doves

The Doves were the guest today.

Indie stream cut out at 1.40 pm but i should have the last hour from the rebroadcast.
Bloody internet !!!

Steve wanted a laminate if he was going to go to their show because he doesnt like being "banged about".
He wanted to be able to go anywhere; "backstage, drummers stool or roof"

The Doves

With his bushy 'stache, Jonesy now reckons he looks like a 70s
porn star****.
Guests: The Doves

Jenny Lens Punk Pix

Indie1031.fm: Joe Sib rules! I will miss Henry Rollins more than words can say. He brought so much into my life with his brilliant rants and musical choices. Yeah, they've got that Brit guy during the day whom I never miss. I wish they archived shows like Little Stevie, so you can listen over and over and avoid the crap they play over and over and over 90% of the time.

This site ( jennylens.net etc ) is extraordinary.

Pictures of a much smaller Steve :-)

The Bangles on today

Played pop trivia with the pontiff of pop and sang some songs.
inc Manic Monday ; Hazy shade of winter (?)
JONESING FOR THE BANGLES | 6/13/2005

Thats a great description from their site;
imagine Harold Steptoe doing the John Peel Show.

Aquabats today

On The Mighty Mighty Morning show !!! Charge

Yesterday was a bad driving day for Jonesy. He had a tire that
looked like it was slashed, then some inconsiderate guy in a Jaguar
parked to close to him in the Whole Foods parking lot and he had
to struggle to get back in his car. L.A. drivers have no courtesy.
"It's hard living in modern society," sez Mr. S., who added
motorists on Sunset Strip yesterday were "driving like asteriods
were coming." Nobody in L.A. uses turn signals, sez Steve. They
should hire people just to give tickets to people who don't use
turn signals." "They already have those," sez Mr.S., "they're
called police officiers." "No, just to give tickets to the people
w/o turn signals. They'd make a fortune."

Monday, June 06, 2005

Jonesy looks like a "swashbuckler" today, complete with 'stache.
Mr. S. has a new cell phone w/ the same service provider as
Jonesy, but his phone still won't work in the studio. Steve sang
some impromptu songs about "bad guys" such as Jack The Ripper and
Gengis Cohen (Kahn)"

Songs included:

Breakfast Club-Never Be The Same
Danny Wilson-Mary's Prayer
Everything But The Girl-Missing
Raspberries-Go All The Way
U2-Lemon
Pony Club-Thinking Of You

Jonesy and the Secret Machines

For you to trip out on? (Laughing) I heard you guys this afternoon on Jonesy’s Jukebox
Brandon: We played “Nowhere Again”. We’ve never done that before, ever. It was a total surprise.
Ben: First of all, it was a surprise that it was Steve Jones who was interviewing us.

"Brandon: Steve handed us a guitar and said, “Here – can you play it?” You can’t really say no, you know? He prefaced it with like, “There’s a lot of bands that come in here that can’t even play their own music and songs.” And it’s like, all right!"

John Waite

Jonesy had a dream last night that he was smoking cigarettes
again. It freaked him out. Mr. Shovel, doing an iffy Freud
impersonation, (***"What are you, Dr. Strangelove?",****** sez
Jonesy******), *** questions the meaning of the dream. He suggests
that Dr. Freud would say the cigarettes are a stand-in for another
similiarly shaped object. "Are you being offensive?" sez Jonesy.

Guest: John Waite

John has just moved to Santa Monica from NY and has a new album
coming out. Jonesy, John and John's guitar player Jimmy do
in-studio versions of "Dock of The Bay", "The Young Ones" and
"Missing You." We learn that after the Professionals tour of
America, their bodyguard threatened to kill Jonesy, so Jonesy
stayed in New York-for a couple years!
