best shows .....

The August 2005 Violent Femmes show is hard to beat on re-listening.
All the UK punkers are good but VF show is very very good.

Both shows with Marco Pirroni were great as were the Rat Scabies shows.

The Cookie shows were always great as well.

mmm need to think some more about this.

Some shows for those who missed them.

I dug out some interesting shows that may be of interest.
I have some others to put up there as well. This is just a very small selection and may give some understanding of how good this radio show was.
All unedited so adverts and all. Shows generally start about 10->15 minutes in to file.

Mediafire link

McLaren, Lydon, Stooges and Pete Townshend, Matlock, Hall of Fame day, Katrina money raising, Cook , Scabies more to come Julien Temple, Moby , Craig Ferguson , Darryl Hall, Mr Belvederes testicle story , New Order ( just listened to this one and it is very funny "Anarchy" in particular ) , Billy Gibbons , Dicky Barrett , Def Leppard and Paul Anka.

So start them playing and its like Steve never went away :-)

At least try to leave a comment and i will keep doing this. I see the download counters.

Doing this you really get to hate the gotomypc leo laporte advert.

"Face on a friday"
"Ding Dongs"

You may notice the blog filling with more info as i actually listen to the old shows.
2004 onwards.

( UPDATED : August 2013 : Commenter Frogspasm wanted the New Order show. i thought i had uploaded it and in serarching for it realized i had not given a link to the other directory from that time. So here it is. Mediafire Link 2 .
(All the Eels shows are there cause i gave them to an author. never did get a copy of that book )
As a quick fix here are the Steve/Tim Burgess/New Order version of
Anarchy in the UK and Bizarre Love Triangle )

RIP Billy Mays

There was a little peak in interest for Jonesys Jukebox last Wednesday. Billy Mays passed away and on the "Pitchmen" Finale there was Steve and Begley.

Steves Statement

Via Randall Roberts at LA Weekly.com LINK
"I want to thank everybody for listening to the show and supporting the station," says JONES. "It was an experience I truly enjoyed and the support I got from my fans and artists who came on the show was just incredible. I'd like to think we broke some rules and that everyone had a bloody good time. Thanks for listening."

LA Weekly has some magical link to unsearchable myspace blogs where this was posted.

1) No it wasn’t a total surprise.

UPDATE: I was scheduled to be on Jonesy's Jukebox again tomorrow (I now have the dubious distinction of being one of the final judges on last week's Jukebox Jury panel), and just received notification that my appearance has been canceled, which leads me to wonder whether Jonesy's Jukebox will remain as part of the Internet broadcast or whether Jonesy's not remaining with the station. Thusfar I've not gotten an answer to my query.

UPDATE #2: No Jonesy on the Internet, either. Apparently there will be no DJs on the online version of Indie 103.1. Indie's groundbreaking format is, in effect, dead.

interesting !!!

.. and then Indie was gone

Thursday , January 15th , 2008 . 5 years , 3 weeks.

So long and thanks for all the fish !!!

( though they are broadcasting a message saying that they will continue over the internet. Whatever that means for shows and personalities. )

At least Steve wont have to drive to Sundance next week.

Sad thing is the mix they are playing just now as the format changes is the great music that the station moved away from playing over the years and had made them important in the first place.

Bye
